AMERICAN MEDICAL RESPONSE AWARDS ROAD SAFETY INTERNATIONAL "PREFERRED VENDOR" CONTRACT

AMR contract designates at least 85% of their in-vehicle driver monitor systems will be the Road Safety SafeForce™ Driving System

CAMARILLO, CA - American Medical Response, the worlds largest ambulance service provider, announced that Road Safety International, Inc. was awarded "preferred vendor" status through January 8, 2001, with a one year extension option.

This announcement was made after the AMR sponsored competition at the Medical Equipment Standardization Fair held in Aurora, Colorado. A total of 55 companies competed for "Preferred Vendor" status in 22 different categories. Road Safety won the Driver Monitor Systems category, and came away with one of the highest over all scores for the week long event.

"SafeForce driving improves safety by involving the driver as part of the solution, rather than making them feel as if they were a victim of the process," states Larry Selditz, President of Road Safety International, Inc. "Our system gives the driver an audible warning as they approach unsafe driving conditions, allowing them sufficient time to correct their actions before an accident occurs. By making drivers consistently aware of their environment, the SafeForce Driving System drastically reduces the likelihood of intersection collisions, rear end accidents and backing incidents."

The 67 AMR committee members from Operations, Risk & Safety, Clinical Education and Purchasing were charged with the task of selecting equipment to be declared standardized throughout AMR. Vendors were asked to demonstrate the effectiveness of their products and provide detailed pricing information.

"We have worked very hard to earn AMR's business," says Selditz. "Our system is well known for improving safety and reducing operating costs in the AMR fleets where we are installed. Many of the committee members at the fair are current Road Safety customers. I believe their first hand knowledge of our product capabilities and customer support was instrumental in winning the competition."

AMR installed their first Road Safety system in Richmond, Virginia in 1996. Since then, AMR fleets in Gulfport, Mississippi, Jackson, Mississippi, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Evansville, Indiana, Portland, Oregon, Pinellas County, Florida, Waterbury, Connecticut and Los Angeles, California have installed SafeForce Driving Systems. An internal AMR cost/benefit analysis of the SafeForce Driving System has indicated that with the reduction in unnecessary vehicle maintenance repairs, the system will pay for itself in less than one year. Additional and more significant savings are obtained by preventing vehicular crashes.

Road Safety International, Inc. is a privately held company with headquarters in Camarillo, California. Road Safety is an industry leader in the field of fleet management systems, driver training programs and data acquisition systems.
