Richmond Ambulance Authority

As you know, we have been using your Road Safety on-board computer system for over three years.
I wanted to drop a note thanking you for the outstanding equipment and support your company
has provided...

"The SafeForce™ driving system gives our drivers the on-going training they need, provides early warning of a dangerous situation before it’s too late and protects us from the careless actions of other drivers on the road."

—Art McKiernan, Director of Operations
American Medical Response, Los Angeles, CA

FROM THE DRIVER'S PERSPECTIVE:

"I Don't Like Big Brother Watching"

“After working 9 years for an ambulance company that does not utilize the Road Safety system, I was a little worried about using the system when I started working at LifeCare. The system, however was very easy to adjust to and basically, is all about driving sensibly. I know the system has helped me become an even better driver, and if I’m ever involved in an accident it will back me up.”

—Wendy Robbert, EMT-P
LifeCare Ambulance, Battle Creek, MI

“I think the SafeForce™ program has astronomically cut our maintenance costs, by breaking old driving habits and instilling new ones that last. I have been with AASI 8 years and received driving awards. If you’re afraid of big brother watching, you are misusing the equipment.”

—Phil Brocato, Paramedic
Acadian Ambulance Service, Lafayette, LA

“Since Road Safety was installed in our rigs, I have a clear understanding of how my supervisor wants me to drive. For the first time, I feel focused and relaxed while responding to a call.”

—Matt Godde, Paramedic
LifeCare Ambulance, Battle Creek, MI

“SafeForce™ saved my life and my partners in preventing what would have been a tragic accident. It has made me more aware of defensive driving and now I always drive SafeForce™ in my own personal vehicle as well.”

—Susan Berwick, Paramedic/RN
Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, IN

“I worry that I’m not going to make my response times.”

“I wish I could say I had a story that the SafeForce™ device has in some way prevented me from having a major accident, but I can’t. It has however provided me with a new awareness that driving fast does not always save time. When I was stationed in Baton Rouge, my partner and I would have contests about who could go the longest without getting an over force count. While at first it was meant as a means of competition between us, the longer we went the more we pulled for each other. The competition somehow transformed competitiveness into teamwork, what a paradox. Through making it a competition between ourselves, we raised our awareness, and actually lessened the stress going to calls; instead of being in a rush and fumbling through the map book; we gained somewhat of a more peaceful outlook which in turn we were more composed on scene; and the net result is that it did not hinder our travel time to the scene. If you follow SafeForce™ faithfully it carries over into your personal off-time life, which is more important to me…the safety of my family.”

—Dean Landry, Paramedic
Acadian Ambulance Service, Lafayette, LA

“I appreciate my partner driving with the Road Safety system. I feel it is easier to work in the back with a patient.”

—Barb Korson, Paramedic
Professional MedTeam, Muskegon, MI

“I have been in EMS for almost 9 years. SafeForce™ driving has changed the way I handle corners, stops and starts and speed. SafeForce™ is beneficial to patient care and comfort, plus adding to the safety of the attendant in back.”

—Connie Kopp, EMT
LifeCare Ambulance, Battle Creek MI

AND FROM MANAGEMENT'S PERSPECTIVE:

. . . . following the SafeForce™ driving principles during an emergency response may increase the amount of time it takes to get on-scene – it may increase response time.

“SafeForce™ has been one of the most valuable additions to our operations. First and foremost, it has enhanced the safety margin for our crews and the public we serve. Second, by holding the crews accountable for the way they operate our ambulances, we have enjoyed huge savings in maintenance costs and reductions in our annual insurance premiums."

—David DeGroote, Director, Paramedics
Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, IN

“Our foremost goal is keeping our employees and others on the road safe. This system, when we apply it properly, helps us save our most precious resource, our people. Basically, Road Safety is the best friend our crews ever had.”

—Mike Stanton, Operations Supervisor
American Medical Response, Gulfport, MS

“We had a unit that was getting far too many exceptions for late response times. We analyzed the second by second data provided by Road Safety. The crew’s shoot times were fine, and speeds were always near, sometimes a little above, posted limits. This made us re-evaluate our staging positions. Adjustments were made, and now the unit is meeting all response times safely.”

—Tony Fuller, Safety & Risk Manager
American Medical Response, Los Angeles, CA

"Bob Mack (Road Safety International, Inc. Certified Driving Instructor) is the best I have ever driven with. He taught us how to teach others to arrive on scene quickly and safely. This training and driving system will give our crews the confidence and skills to provide top notch service for our customers.”

—Rodney Dyche, Chief Operating Officer
Care Medical Transport, San Diego, CA
